Spooky Scavenger Hunt

A traditional treat which works along the same lines as a normal scavenger hunt, but with a Halloween theme twist. If you and your neighbours have decorated for Halloween it is super easy to create a scavenger hunt. Items to find can include things like a spider’s web in the garden, a black cat, a cauldron, a ghoulish ghost, a lit pumpkin, a spooky tree, a witch’s hat and a scary skeleton. Of course, the items you list will need to be able to be found. Bobbing for Apples

A classic Halloween game. All you need for this game are some large bowls, water, apples and of course players! Oh and you might find it handy to have a stack of towels on hand too, someone always gets soaked! The prep is quick and easy, simply fill large bowls to approx. ¾ with water and add 4 or 5 apples. This should be placed on a table both children and adults can easily reach, don’t worry if it is a little low for the adults, they can kneel or add an extra element by making them bend low. Players should keep their hands behind their back then attempt to grab an apple only using their mouths. This game can be played with just one bowl or multiple making it a race. Remember! Always supervise children when playing with water!

Costume Relay Race

This fun race can have hilarious results. Select random bits of dress up, the spookier the better. Try to include items for each major area, for example: a hat, scarf, top, bottoms, gloves, socks. Items should be placed a short distance apart. With enough items for two or more players, each player will run to the first pile, put the dress up clothes on, before running to the next item and so on until there is a winner!

Wrap the Mummy

This game is simple and super fun. You will need two players per team, one wrapper and one mummy, toilet roll and a timer! The wrapper will wrap the mummy in the loo roll as quickly as they can before the time runs out, the winner is the mummy who has the most coverage on them. For extra fun and to save you clearing away, reverse the game, another winner is chosen for the team that unwraps their mummy and gets the waste in to the rubbish bag first!

Truth or Scare

A frightful twist on the traditional Truth or Dare game try Truth or Scare! Like the traditional game you can ask the player whether they would like a truth question or a scare to enact. Truth questions can range from “what is your favourite guilty pleasure” to “who do you have a crush on”, whilst Scares can be tasks like “rush outside and howl at the moon as loudly as you can” to “stand outside the loo and when someone come out do your best evil laugh mwwuaaahhh!” Find more inspiration for Truth or Scare on the www.playpartyplan.com website.

Mystery Boxes

This deliciously gross party game is all about the experience! Players put their hands into each box and write down what they think is in each one. The winner is the person who guessing the most correct items. First gather your boxes, any cardboard box that you can cut a hole big enough for a hand to fit inside will do. You can decorate your boxes with crepe paper or get super creative and create pumpkin, ghost and ghoul designs. Next, we need to think about the ghoulish contents. How about frog spawn – a can of rice pudding, eyeballs – pickled onions, rats tails – cooked spaghetti. For more Halloween mystery box inspiration visit www.thespruce.com I think this game is even more fun to create and watch, than it is to play it.

Doughnuts on a String

Definitely more of a treat than a trick, this fun game has participants race to eat a doughnut as fast as they can, however they are not allowed to use their hands and the doughnuts are suspended on string. This game is hilarious to watch and yummy to play. What you will need: a good quantity of string and some ring doughnuts. First suspend a length of string between to sturdy points, then tie ring doughnuts securely to the line making sure the dangle down far enough so that players can reach them with their mouths. Repeat two or three times depending on the number of players you have. This is a race game, so the winner is the person who eats all of their doughnut first!
