Subject to being approved by Parliament, Gas Safety Regulations are to be amended to allow more flexibility for landlords when it comes to the renewal of their annual gas safety certificate.
The new “MOT-style”
The new “MOT-style” change means that landlords can carry out the annual gas safety check in two months prior to the renewal date and retain the existing expiry date. The changes, which do not relax regulatory requirements or reduce safety standards, aim to introduce a degree of flexibility to the timing of landlords’ annual gas safety checks. This will help prevent landlords from waiting until the last minute or having to shorten the annual cycle check to comply with the law.
The changes are due to come into force on the 6th of April 2018.
