The pier stands at an incredible 1722 ft long and again provides one of the most recognisable and visited places in Brighton. The pier dates back to November 1881 and was officially opened on the 20thMay 1899. It now provides a real tourist hot spot, and the feel of what Brighton is all about. Again, one of the more historic and well known attractions of Brighton and Hove, for those who love shopping and enjoying the more local feel, this is the place to visit. This area is both popular with the locals and tourists as it provides a wide variety of shops, cafes, bars and entertainment that will truly capture the blend of cultures within the city. At the weekends this area truly comes to life, with many of the roads closed off to cars and street markets being present which adds to the variety and diverse sights and sounds on offer. There are the South and North Laines, both of which are a real hot spot for visitors.
