In our Focus On series, we’ve been taking a look at the fantastic range of different housing areas available in Corby. It’s proving to be a popular tool for home hunters who are looking for their next move.
In last month’s Focus On we looked at Station Quarter. Our blog this month takes a look at Lodge Park and everything that the area has to offer.
So, if you are struggling to know what’s available in the Lodge Park area when it comes to property, schools and amenities, read on!
Why you should consider Lodge Park
Corby has a strong community spirit which can be found in all areas of the town.
Located in the northern part of Corby, Lodge Park provides those living in the area easy access to a range of amenities across other parts of the town via well serviced bus routes.
Lodge Park is also within walking distance to Corby town centre with its array of shops, eating establishments, library and local swimming pool which features a full-size competition pool!
Local amenities in the area
The area is served by a number of schools, including Lodge Park Academy – a secondary school located on Shetland Way. Part of The David Ross Education Trust, it was officially opened by Formula 1 Lewis Hamilton in May 2013!
Within walking distance are three more schools: Studfall Infant Academy for ages 3-7, Studfall Junior Academy, for ages 7-11 and primary school Woodnewton – A Learning Community, all of which are located on Rowlett Road.
It’s worth noting when looking at schools, that from September 2024 Ofsted no longer makes an overall effectiveness judgement such as ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’, in inspections of state-funded schools.
Amenities are aplenty too, with the area bordered by two shopping parades. Welland Vale shops feature convenience stores, a hairdressers, fast food takeaways including Chinese, chip shop and kebab shop. There is also a café and coffee shop too for locals to enjoy while out on their day-to-day errands.
On the opposite side of Lodge Park is Pytchley Court shops which is home to award-winning Bob’s Corby who specialise in a variety of hand-crafted foods, in both their coffee lounge and takeaway. They have previously won silver in the Northants Food & Drink Awards and claimed the Small Business Award in the Spirit of Corby Awards. They also recently played host to the crew and volunteers of ITV show This Morning who were in Corby carrying out a garden makeover!
Residents are spoilt for choice when it comes to food with a chip shop, Indian and Chinese too. Pubs, The Kingfisher and The Silver Band are also close by.
For those everyday essentials, there’s a Premier convenience store, plus a pharmacy, laundrette and barbers.
If sports and fitness are your thing, Lodge Park Sports Centre – located next to Lodge Park Academy – is equipped with a gym and offers group exercise classes. You can also hire the astro turf for a game of football or relax in the sports bar located on the first floor.
Also nearby are the bigger players in groceries, Aldi and a Morrisons Daily. Adjacent on Rockingham Leisure Park is The Samuel Lloyd Wetherspoon’s pub, trampoline park Gravity Active, plus eateries such as Subway.
