In our Focus On series of blog posts we take a look at the range of different housing areas available in Corby.
The blogs have proven to be a valuable tool and last month we looked at the Exeter estate. In our sixth instalment for June, we take a look at the popular Oakley Vale estate.
Why you should consider Oakley Vale
With a strong community spirit, alongside some beautiful outdoor spaces, Oakley Vale provides a range of different housing options – either for sale or for rent.
A great area, particularly for those with families, Oakley Vale is also close to the town centre and just two miles from Corby train station which provides a regular, direct service, to London.
There’s plenty of outdoor space too for walking and relaxing, with several play parks dotted around the area. Also set throughout the estate’s green spaces, is Corby Sculpture Park. An initiative from ‘Made in Corby’ and in collaboration with local residents and artists, the featured sculptures – created using Corby steel from Tata – were inspired by the local natural wildlife, with a design that echoed the lake fountain and local oak trees.
And not to be missed is the beautiful Oakley Vale Lake, which is home to its own resident swan.
Local amenities in the area
There are two primary schools that cater for children up to Year 6 – Corby Primary Academy and Oakley Vale Primary School. The Academy is rated as Outstanding by Ofsted, while Oakley Vale Primary is Ofsted rated as Good. Meanwhile, close to Oakley Vale is Brooke Weston Academy, a Good secondary school choice, as rated by Ofsted.
The area also boasts its very own Community Centre which is a hub for a wide range of events, classes and dance lessons. Just around the corner from the Centre is a good variety of useful amenities, including a barber shop, nursery, pharmacy, a local vet surgery, several takeaway outlets including a chip shop, Chinese and Pizza Hut, a supermarket and a local cake shop serving freshly baked cakes and treats!
There is also a family pub, Harpers Brook, right next to the shops, which serves up food and drink for all and promises a warm welcome. And if it’s sunny, you can relax and soak up the sun in their beer garden!
