We’re continuing with our Focus On series, which takes a look at the wide range of different housing areas available in Corby. It’s proven to be a valuable tool for home hunters looking for their next home to fall in love with.
Last month we featured the area of Great Oakley and this month we take a look at Station Quarter. So, if finding the perfect home feels like an impossible task, then the team here at Belvoir are on hand to guide you through, every step of the way!
Why you should consider Station Quarter
Did you know that Corby’s very first train station opened in 1879 and first closed in April 1966? It later reopened in 1987, only to close again three years later. However, such was demand due to growth in the area, that the train station returned in 2009, operating with just one daily train each way on Mondays to Fridays. The full current service of hourly trains to and from London began on 27th April 2009.
Station Quarter was the first build-to-rent development in the town with top-quality two-bedroom apartments. Located at Hunslet House right by Corby Train Station, which operate a regular service into London, it makes this area perfect for professionals who commute.
Work is currently underway on a £9 million cycle and footpath to connect Corby’s railway station to the town centre. The designated route will cover Elizabeth Street, Oakley Road, and Station Road and promises to make life safer and more convenient for both cyclists and pedestrians.
Also planned for Station Quarter is a proposed new Travelodge. The hotel brand has submitted plans to build a new four-storey hotel next to the train station. It’s set to have 80 rooms and will create 20 new jobs in the town.
All of these exciting plans make Station Quarter a great choice when it comes to looking for your next move.
