One of Corby’s main attractions for entertainment is Rockingham Motor Speedway. Rockingham Motor Speedway opened its doors to the public in May 2001 and is Europe’s fastest banked oval racing circuit.
Rockingham is the first purpose- built banked oval in the UK since Brook lands was constructed in 1907. It has an all seating captivity of 52,000 and has both an oval and a road circuit.
The track boasts fourteen configurations that can be used for anything from touring cars, motor cycles and rally cars.
Rockingham Speedway hosts a wide selection of race meetings throughout the year including the ever-popular Touring car championships. This weekend it will also host the BRSCC Caterham Festival which is sure to get motor racing fans excited.
The Speedway itself is centrally located and is easily accessible from the A1, M1, A14, A43 and the A6116. The track is located just two miles away from Corby’s new train station, which opened in February 2009 and has an hourly direct link to London.
The Speedway is still proving a popular day out for families and car enthusiasts a like, in 2008 crowds in excess of 40,000 showed up for the BTCC event which is a record for this event at the stadium.
