On Saturday 8th June Belvoir Lettings Dunstable were pleased to contribute to the Watling Lower School Summer Fair by running a competition to guess how many balloons it took to fill their Belvoir Mini.
Having arrived with a gazebo at the ready to protect the staff from the sun that had graced us for the 3 days prior, it soon became evident that on this day it was more likely to keep us dry from the rain that threatened.
Having fought against the wind to erect the gazebo and tied it securely to the Mini and blown up the last of the balloons, the invited Star Wars Storm Troopers and Deputy Mayor cut the ribbon to start the day.
With a prize of £40 of Argos vouchers up for grabs there was a steady flow of parents and children willing to take a guess as to how many balloons were in the mini with only Daniel Bourke from Belvoir and Ruth from the school PTA knowing the answer.
Having blown up the balloons Daniel and Zara from Belvoir were surprised how many there were and the guesses reflected this ranging from 35 to over 350 balloons with the majority between 50 and 150.
At the end of the fair the guesses were checked and the nearest guess to the actual number of 203 balloons was 205 by Terri Ann .
Despite the weather a good day was had by all and on the day £800 was raised in total by all activities to fund equipment for the children.
