It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
You will often hear it said that Christmas is all about the children. And this is, of course, largely true.
We all remember what it was like on the buildup to the big day: the stomach churning excitement. The sleepless nights…That could, no doubt, have been all down to the mince pies and fizzy drinks being shoveled down us by Grandma and Grandpa. But we suspect, at the very least, that it was in no small part down to the magic and anticipation of the season.
Now, older and, perhaps, slightly more cynical and jaded, the season can mean something a little bit different than it once did. As adults, we have collected a stuffed sack of responsibilities over the years and, consequently, stresses that can weigh heavily on our backs. We can, as much as it pains us to say it out loud, begin to dread a time of year that we used to hold so dear to our child sized hearts.
But, as Christmas Day approaches, we realize – as we do every year- why we do what we do. And why we are happy to do it.
Time teaches us that lesson that we all now know to be true: That it is better to give than to receive.
Yes, it is a cliche. And, as we all well know, clichés don’t always hold strong. But, in this case, it is a thought worth keeping close. Especially at Christmas time.
We invite friends and family over to our homes. Share food and drinks and memories. Enjoy each other’s company and celebrate that fact that we all have this opportunity to be together.
Here at Belvoir Edinburgh, we are all about helping you to find somewhere to turn into a home. Whether it is to buy or to rent, we want you to find a place where you can put up that first Christmas tree and begin a new life of love and happiness. A place where such gatherings can take place and the exchanging of gifts can, we hope, be a regular occurrence in many special, or not so special, occasions to come.
If we have helped you achieve this dream over this past year, then we could not be more delighted. It is why we do what we do. And why we are happy to do it.
Whether you are spending Christmas Day with family, friends or are perhaps enjoying a bit of quality time by yourself, don’t forget to remember what it is really all about and be in touch with those that are important to you. Sometimes just a kindly, heartfelt word is enough to make somebody’s year.
From everyone here at Belvoir Edinburgh, we wish you all a beautiful, peaceful and utterly fun-filled Christmas.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. We hope you enjoy it.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
