Are you in need of a spring clean?

Do you get overwhelmed with cleaning? Or are you a fan of Mrs Hinch herself? Either way we have some easy cleaning tips for our tenants as we head in to the Spring.

More than 50% of all tenancy deposit disputes between landlords and tenants are due to cleanliness so whether you are leaving your property or just in need of a freshen up, here are some tips to help you out.

Bedrooms:

  • Open the windows
  • Remove/tidy any clutter that shouldn’t be in the room and put it in its correct place
  • Dust, vacuum and clean furniture
  • Move bed to one side and tidy or dispose of anything underneath. Sweep and vacuum the area under the bed
  • Freshen the mattress by sprinkling a bit of baking soda over it before vacuuming
  • Wash the bedding and curtains
  • Dust lights and clean lampshades
  • Wash windows and window sills
  • Empty wardrobe, wash clothes and replace them neatly. Donate anything you no longer wear
  • Clean doors and disinfect door knobs
  • Sweep and wash floors

Living room/family rooms:

  • Open the windows
  • Vacuum sofas
  • Wash pillows and blankets
  • Dust and clean decor, shelves, lamps and furniture
  • Wash windows and window sills
  • Sort through clutter and get rid of anything that you and your family are no longer interested in
  • Wash and disinfect light switch plates and light switches
  • Wash floor

Bathrooms:

  • Open the windows.
  • Empty cabinets and draws, wash them inside and out and replace the contents neatly. Discard of anything that has expired or that you no longer use.
  • Clean and disinfect the bath, drains and sinks
  • Clean and disinfect the toilet, inside and out
  • Dust and clean any mirrors
  • Wash windows and window sills
  • Clean doors and door knobs.
  • Sweep and wash floors

Kitchen:

  • Open the windows
  • Empty cabinets and draws, clean them inside and out and replace the contents neatly. Disinfect cutting boards
  • Dispose of anything that has expired
  • Clean and disinfect the oven and hob
  • Clean and organise the fridge and freezer. Defrost freezer, if necessary. Dispose of any expired food
  • Clean and disinfect the microwave
  • Clean the crumbs out of the toaster
  • Wipe down any other counter appliances
  • Disinfect counters and backsplash
  • Wash windows and window sills
  • Clean doors and door knobs
  • Sweep and wash floors
