It’s the time of year when recent university entrants look to secure properties for the year ahead, and the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) has reminded students they can help reduce the stress of renting a property by choosing a good letting agent.
While the prospect of renting for the first time can be daunting, students should take full advantage of help on offer from their universities and use an ARLA agent if possible, the industry body has said.
Nik Madan, president of ARLA, said: “Renting with friends at university can be a fantastic experience – and one most university students won’t have had before. There is a lot of help available for student renters, so it’s important to seek this out if you fall into problems.”
Madan added: “Additionally, there are several steps students should follow as standard when looking for a property. First and foremost, it can be stressful if you’re not dealing with a good letting agent – using an ARLA agent means you’re in good hands, as they have to adhere to the highest professional standards.”
The RLA was established in 1998 and represents over 28,000 landlords with more than 250,000 properties.
