New figures out this morning show that house builders registered nearly 38,000 new homes in the UK during the third quarter of 2017 – that’s the highest total for that period of the year since the start of the recession a decade ago.
In the period July to September inclusive, 37,936 new homes were registered, representing a six per cent increase on the 35,946 registered in the same period last year.
The private sector saw a nine per cent increase to 29,083, with 8,853 new homes registered in the affordable sector, a five per cent drop decrease on Q3 2016.
“We have seen encouraging growth in terms of the number of new homes being registered over the last three months, across many parts of the country. With demand for high quality new homes as strong as ever, this is positive news for the industry and prospective homebuyers, particularly in light of the current political and economic uncertainties” says NHBC chief executive Steve Wood.
Seven out of the 12 regions experienced growth in registrations, when compared to the same period last year – Scotland (3,056 +50 per cent), East Midlands (3,575 +42 per cent) and the North East (2,078 +34 per cent) had the strongest growth.
Belvoir West Derby welcomes the increase of house building and has noticed that this has increased locally with the continued growth in the Avenue development in Norris Green along with the new Redrow development, Regency Gardens located just off Mill Lane, a stones throw from our office!
