The Home Office has launched a Crimestoppers’ Commercial Cannabis Cultivation Campaign.
Crimestoppers have developed a booklet for landlords and letting agents that helps them to spot the signs of commercial cannabis cultivation, shows them how to report it, and explains the steps they can take to help protect themselves and their properties. Commercial cannabis cultivation affects landlords and letting agents. It causes significant damage to property, results in loss of rent, and in some cases property is seized by police. Members are advised to work with landlords to spot signs of criminal intent and report any suspicions to Crimestoppers or the police in order to tackle both cultivation and associated crime through clear enforcement activity.
The likelihood of having a cannabis factory in a rental property is greatly diminished by using an ARLA Licensed agent like Belvoir Liverpool West Derby and Belvoir Liverpool Central who makes appropriate tenancy checks.
