Signature Living to convert West Derby college into luxury apartments after £1.75m deal

Developer Signature Living is to turn a former college in West Derby into a luxury apartment block after buying it in a £1.75m deal.

Signature Living, best known for city centre hotels including the Shankly Hotel, has bought the Bankfield Centre from the City of Liverpool College.

The group, also responsible for the 30 James Street hotel, is now expanding into the residential property market. It has converted the former Daniel House office block in Bootle into 156 apartments and says it will offer residential tenants “the glamour of luxury hotel style living”.

In West Derby, the former City of Liverpool College further education centre will be turned into 100 one and two-bed apartments. Signature Living has already begun work on the scheme with some details already showing online for the apartments.

The company’s co-founder, Lawrence Kenwright, said: “It is an exciting time for Signature Living and I am pleased that we are further expanding our operations into residential as well as growing our portfolio of hotels and apartments.

“All of our residential developments are constructed with care and quality and are designed to a high specification. We offer the same innovative and unique design that you get at Signature hotels within our residential offer and Bankfield will be no exception. We’re looking forward to bringing these quality homes to West Derby.”

Belvoir believes that Signature Living’s investment in our local area, can only be a good one. Looking at their diverse portfolio, it’s good to see that they are venturing further afield then in the heart of Liverpool’s city centre. Good, affordable properties will always be required and these particular developments, with the variety of different options available, will work well in helping young people get onto the property ladder.
