Loughborough is a small town in North Leicestershire and is at the heart of the borough of Charnwood. One of the main attractions for people moving to Loughborough is its’ superb transport links, with easy access to the M1 and located just a short distance from Leicester, Nottingham and Derby. The railway service also allows you to reach London in 90 minutes. That’s before you even mention that East Midlands Airport is only 15 minutes away!
The town is also home to one of the most well-regarded Universities in the UK, with Loughborough University consistently ranked as one of the best in the country in the national league tables. It also is internationally renowned for its sporting facilities and has been named as the best sporting university in the world. Famous alumni include Lord Sebastien Coe, Paula Radcliffe and Sir Clive Woodward to name a few.
Charnwood is also the home of the Great Central Railway, the UK’s only double track, the main line heritage railway. It’s the only place in the world where full-size steam engines can be seen passing each other – just as it was when steam ruled the rails. It runs from Loughborough, through the villages of Quorn, Woodhouse & Rothley to Birstall in North Leicestershire.
There’s also a wealth of high-class restaurants, pubs and bars throughout the region, plus stunning natural areas such as Bradgate Park and Charnwood Forest and plenty of entertainment for kids too.
All in all, there’s something for everyone and if you’re moving to the area, our team are more than happy to pass on our tips and recommendations.
