Getting to know Nick

In this short five minute interview, we find out totally random things about Nick and his life when he’s not carrying out his daily duties of running Belvoir Mansfield!

What is a skill you’d like to learn?

Golf, I’m awful at it – I’ve always said if I had an hour left to live I’d spend it playing golf because it would feel like a lifetime.

What do you think should be taught in schools that isn’t now?

Finances, I think teaching kids about the value of a pound would help young people with managing money and help them get their own independence earlier than what they do now.

If you could speak another language what would it be and why?

I can speak intermediate level Italian, I’d love to get to the point where I as completely fluent and understand everything. I love the Italian language, culture and food – the best moto gp riders have all been Italian too!

If you could bring one fictional character to life, who would it be and why?

Bruce Wayne – He’s rich, he’s intelligent, and he’s BATMAN!

Would you rather explore a new planet, or the deepest parts of the ocean? Why?

A planet without a doubt, even a rubbish one with not much going on like Mars – no offence to any Martians reading this…

In what ways are you the same as your childhood self?

I collect Lego star wars sets much to my wife’s annoyance and embarrassment! We need a bigger house just to put the stuff in!

How did you get your name? were you named after anyone or anything in particular?

No idea how I got my name, but I wish they’d take it back. Doesn’t take much of an imagination to think of what I got called at school (and sometimes now)! My wife took some convincing to take my surname too.

What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to and why?

Stereophonics – in 2013, the first one I ever went to. It was incredible and love their older stuff.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Save every penny you can, don’t spend it on cars, motorbikes, or other stuff. It will make it so much easier to get your own house later on!

If you could bring one musician back from the dead, who would it be and why?

Elvis, mainly because of the haircut!

If you could learn only one magic spell, but it could only do something mundane and boring, what would the spell do?

Being able to transport anywhere I wanted, it would save a fortune on petrol, flights, and save a shed of time on the commute to and from work.

What food could you never give up?

Any type of pasta, it’s so easy to make a great tasting Italian meal even for someone with the cooking skills of a six year old like me!
