In a recent article by The Residential Landlords Association (www.rla.org.uk) it has been reported that a database of recommended landords DID actually exist and was commissioned by Central Government despite previous denials that it existed. The database is mentioned in dispatches but was designed as a collaboration between all local councils to search all landlords and their suitability. Although it started, participation is said to have been unsatisfactory and the formal request for data was stopped. Since then a London based council has been found to hold data on landlords that do not have any properties in their area begging the question ; ‘Where did they get the data?’
