Local agent Belvoir Peterborough is offering a free seminar for landlords in response to recent legislative changes and budget changes that are impacting the Private Rented Sector.
This event is part of a wider series of seminars that Belvoir has been running since November 2014. The monthly workshops aim to educate investors about the property investment process through informative talks from a range of speakers.
The next property seminar will be held on Wednesday 9th December at the Deafblind UK conference centre in Hampton. The evening will consist of a presentation from Belvoir’s senior staff and three guest speakers who are experts in their field.
The Buy to Let Team at Belvoir is holding this particular talk in response to the recent changes that impact the private rented sector. Forthcoming changes such as the restriction of tax relief and higher stamp duty on buy to let purchases may diminish the profits of smaller landlords.
The Belvoir team and their guest speakers for the seminar are keen to demonstrate that it’s not all bad news and there are ways of making your investment work.
“Change is inevitable in a booming property market and it is important to remain responsive,” said Terry Lucking, owner of Belvoir Peterborough & Cambridge. “The recent budget announcements are a cause for concern for landlords but as this seminar will demonstrate, property is still a viable investment option; the key is to plan ahead and seek expert advice from professionals.”
The first guest speaker will be Terence Ogden, from The OneE Group, one of the UK’s leading tax advisory firms. Terence will be discussing forthcoming financial changes including the new “Renewals Allowance”, changes to inheritance tax and the tax relief reductions. Terence has kindly agreed to share some potential tax planning methods, so this will be well worth listening to.
Belvoir will also be joined by Emma Watson and Julie Isaac from Buckles Solicitors in Peterborough. Emma and Julie will be providing a valuable legislative update to clarify new laws that landlords need to understand. They will be covering the Deregulation Bill, changes to tenancy deposits and the Immigration Act.
Emma Falco, manager of Belvoir Peterborough & Cambridge said, “To be a responsible landlord it is essential to stay up to date with legislative and financial changes relating to property. This upcoming seminar will be invaluable for landlords because we are addressing the issues at the forefront of the private rented sector.”
