Belvoir Sheffield Bucks National Trend For Arrear Increases

As The Residential Landlords Association reports that the number of tenants in severe arrears has increased by 15 per-cent, Belvoir Lettings Sheffield is reporting figures way below the national average.

The letting agency which has an office on Campo Lane in Sheffield has bucked national trends and is decreasing the incidence of rental arrears much to the satisfaction of its landlords.

The latest figures from The Residential Landlords Association found that there are now 99,000 tenants in arrears of at least two months, the highest level since 2008.

Rick Flay, Director at Belvoir Sheffield, which offers a wide range of houses to let Sheffield, said: “These figures paint a very dim figure of the lettings market indeed and show that perhaps tenants referencing services are not up to scratch.

“Here at Belvoir Sheffield we are actually finding that our levels are way below the national average and this is down to our first rate credit checks and referencing procedure, in addition to the measures and process we follow when tenants do start to struggle.”

The report also found that a staggering 25,422 tenants across the UK also faced eviction notices in the second quarter of this year.

Rick Flay, whose agency specialises in flats to let Sheffield, added: “Times are certainly getting harder but this is the perfect time for agencies to step up on their checks procedures for new tenants. As a letting agent we have a responsibility to protect the landlord as much as we can, and this is why I would like to invite any landlords concerned about rental arrears to have a free no obligation chat with us in branch.”
