Recently approval has been granted from Sheffield city council for plans to construct a bridge spanning the waterway at Kelham Island. The proposal was put forward by the Upper Don Walk Trust with the intention to give cyclists, pedestrians and wheelchair users a pleasant pathway removed from the dangers of the main roads of Sheffield.
The new bridge will provide the public with a more safe and suitable direct route from Ball Street to the Kelham Island Museum. Not only will the new bridge provide safety, it will also provide excellent views of the surrounding wildlife. Officers claim that the 20 meter long bridge will have a simple yet contemporary appearance.
After it’s approval the Upper Don Walk Trust said the bridge deck would be engraved with the name of those who helped win the bridges approval. This improvement adds to the recent flurry of modern developments that are being granted in the city of Sheffield!
