Once you have had your offer to buy your new home in Sheffield accepted, it’s time to get your move on!
Preparing for moving day you will need to arrange how you are to move all your stuff into your new home. Yes, you can also get a ‘white van man’ to help as there are plenty of them around, however, remember that you will not have the same legal address should something go wrong. Or of course, you can do it yourself. But remember you will need to pull in family or friends to help you and make sure you add up the time (and effort) it will take you and weigh that up against paying somebody to do it for you.
There are going to be a few things at your new address, and your current address that you are going to have to sort out. There is your gas, electricity, water, telephone, broadband, and your TV package if you have one. All of these essential services, and your council tax will need sorting out.
So make sure you get ‘final bills’ rom your utility (etc) suppliers as the last thing you want is a bill for you landing on your old doorstep that you do not know about and spoiling your credit score. Similarly, when you have moved in to your new home, make sure you register at your new house on the electrical role as that is essential for your credit score, and ensure that you have notified all your suppliers of your new address.
Just in case you forget, it is also a good idea to use the Royal Mail forwarding service to forward your post to your new address for up to 12 months.
