A rising star on the
Sheffield property scene has scooped gold in the Belvoir Lettings ‘High Achievers’ Awards.
Rick Flay, who opened his Sheffield office at 1 Paradise Square three years ago and has since opened a second franchise in Chesterfield, was delighted to discover that he’d won the Gold Franchise of the Year Award 2009 at a ceremony held at the Belton Woods Hotel near Grantham.
This is the top honour offered by Belvoir, the UK’s largest letting agent, and is open to over 145 offices throughout the UK.

flats to let in Sheffield, runs Belvoir with his business partner Sarah Powell, he said, “Last year we won Franchise of the Year Silver award and in 2007 we were named New Franchise of the Year so I am delighted that Belvoir Sheffield has continued to perform for the third year running,”.
“We have worked hard to achieve the market leading position in Sheffield and have firmly established ourselves as the first choice for local lettings and management.”
Rick, who heads the company’s regional Belvoir Networking Group for the North of England, also advises potential property investors on how to profit from the area’s growing buy-to-let market.
The local lettings market is booming, according to Rick, who says he expects the sector to continue to grow as a result of changing demographics and a shift in attitudes towards renting.
“Over the last year we have seen a high influx of new tenants and landlords come through our doors. I believe some of these new customers are individuals who were trying to sell and have decided to move because they are unwilling to sell their biggest asset at the bottom of the market. And with first time buyers needing at least 30% deposit, many are choosing to rent rather than buy.
“At Belvoir Sheffield we take a great deal of pride in looking after our landlord clients and their tenants, especially those who are new to the world of rentals and property management.”
Citing Rick for his Gold Franchise of the Year Award the judges said he was honoured for his, “commitment to the business and the local area; for constantly delivering high levels of customer service and his ambitious plans for future growth and staff development. He was also recognised for promoting the Belvoir brand and contributing to the group as a whole.”
