The online mortgage lender’ carried out research last month on the average rental yields for postcodes home to at least one university. The results showed Sheffield was within the top five postcodes in the UK with rental yields over 5.2%.
Student towns such as Sheffield are prime for investment due to the demand they are guaranteed to draw every academic year. LandlordToday reported that Christian Faes, CEO of Lendinvest, commented on what student towns to invest in, saying: ‘’Landlords need to look beyond simply how big the local student population is. For instance, there are many thousands of students attending universities in London, yet when it comes to rental yields there are far more profitable areas to invest in than the capital’’
