Why Sheffield Is The Place To Be!

Meadowhall is set to release development plans for a new £300m investment into a proposed leisure hall at the Meadowhall centre. This will introduce a flock of new restaurants to add to the current array, which include Five Guys, Handmade Burger Co, Nando’s and Zizzi. A joint owner of Meadowhall, British Land, unveiled the proposal recently, becoming one of the largest investments into the City of Sheffield for over a decade, which in result would create an estimated thousand jobs within the region.

The leisure hall will be integrated with the existing Meadhowall centre, while adding another 330,000 sq ft of extra space. Within the leisure hall it is proposed that there will be a new cinema, a new gym, café court and a host of new restaurants.

A head of retail and leisure for British Land stated: “We are continuing to drive Meadowhall’s evolution to ensure it remains an outstanding place for modern consumer lifestyles.

“This significant step change in the scheme’s leisure provision will contribute to Sheffield’s continuation as a driving force behind the Northern Powerhouse. This is a very exciting time and we look forward to working with Sheffield City Council to help ensure Sheffield’s future success.”

British Land predicts that if proposals are approved then work on the leisure hall will commence during 2018 and hope to open the hall to visitors in late 2020.

This development, along with the other large developments that are currently underway or proposed, the future is bright for Sheffield. With the property market set to soar, Sheffield is most definitely the place to be!
