Sheffield’s Seven In The Property Oscars
The annual RICS Yorkshire and Humber Awards is around the corner and seven of Sheffield’s property projects have been included in the running to win prestigious industry accolades. The awards have been referred to as the regions property Oscars, judging projects based on the benefit they bring to their respective communities and innovation in design. There are currently 46 projects from around the region that could potentially obtain industry recognition from this year’s award. Of the seven Sheffield projects, these include:
-The University of Sheffield’s Diamond Building is up for the design through innovation award. The £81m development that opened late last year uses state of the art facilities in a push to achieve the Universities ambition of being the UK’s leading engineering university by 2021.
-Oasis Academy in Don Valley, which opened in September last year, is shortlisted to win the regeneration accolade. The £16m project has changed previously developed land into a community focused academy school.
-Yorkshire waters Bio Energy Digestion Scheme in Blackburn Meadows is in the running to win the infrastructure award. The £23m project is shortlisted for generating energy to reduce Sheffield’s carbon footprint whilst acting as a waste facility for over 800,000 people in the South Yorkshire Region.
The RICS Yorkshire and Humber Awards is being hosted on 13 May but will be followed in October 2016 for the national RICS Award Grand Final where regional category winners compete to be crowned as the overall winner in the UK for their specific category.
