8. A national centre of innovation in local energy use. By 2050, the UK has committed to cutting greenhouse gas-emissions to almost zero and to reducing emissions by around 80%. The Stoke-on-Trent District Heating Network is one of only two such geothermal district heating systems here in the UK, and will supply our city with cheap, sustainable heating. We are striving to cut down on our carbon footprint.
