The sunny showery weather has given the plants a much needed boost and the gardens in Sutton are looking amazing! This weekend sees the annual opening of the Mayfield Lavender fields just up the road from our Carshalton Beeches office. We’ll certainly be taking a trip there to enjoy the colours and scents later in June.
We’re really lucky living in the Sutton Borough – there are an amazing 86 open spaces and parkland with some real diversity in terms of the wildlife that live there. From butterflies and bugs, to badgers, hedgehogs and foxes.
Did you know there are 36 allotment sites in Sutton alone – if you’re looking to buy a property and you would like some more outdoor space to grow your own vegetables and flowers, you can apply to the council for an allotment. These spaces are included in the annual Sutton in Bloom competition and the winners are invited to an awards ceremony in July with the best entries considered for the London in Bloom competition.
Sutton in Bloom is a competition to find the best front garden, best community garden, best business frontage, best allotment and best school garden – find out how to enter here and make sure you’ve entered by the closing date of June 15th. These bright colourful spaces make our borough pretty special! https://www.sutton.gov.uk/…/par…/1149/parks_and_facilities/3
