Pembury is a large village on the outskirts of Tunbridge Wells, on the side of the ‘Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury’ in fact. The village of Pembury has a central green around which the residential roads converge and a handful of shops, pubs and restaurants are found. The village green and High Street are in fact conservation areas and surrounded by many substantial and attractive properties such as ‘The Manor House’ which stands proudly in the perfect position to oversee activities on the green.

Pembury is a village community with a Pembury village website which boasts of the many clubs, societies and organisations. It must be a sporting community with a football club, table tennis club, cricket club and bowls club as well as a range of other clubs including the WI, Bridge Club and the ‘Pembury Players’. Conveniently, Pembury has a newsagents, a local pharmacy, doctors, vets and dental surgery. 

You’ll never go hungry or thirsty in Pembury! There are three pubs which are all full of character; The Camden Arms in the centre with rooms, the historic Black Horse renowned for its Sunday carvery and the King William IV which has a garden. There are also 2 Chinesetakeaways, an Indian takeaway as well as a fish and chip shop. The Notcutts Garden centre at the end of the High Street, Pembury, is very popular not just for it’s huge range of plants and garden items but also for its excellent café and gift shopping.

The village primary school was ranked ‘Good’ in the latest OFSTED inspection (2019) and for secondary, many pupils will go on to the non-selective, mixed gender Skinners Kent Academy which is in walking distance on the Pembury Road in Tunbridge Wells. Being based in Pembury is convenient for anyone needing to take the roads out towards Paddock Wood, Kings Hill and Maidstone, or for those who wish to go straight down the A21 to Hastings on the coast, passing picturesque Lamberhurst and Bewl Water then historic Robertsbridge and Battle on the way.

Living is easy with all those pubs, takeaways and shops on the doorstep.
