When the first flush of romance hits, you may find yourself searching the internet for the ideal place for a weekend away. Tunbridge Wells is that perfect place. A town with a romantic setting, history, period buildings, fine dining, exclusive shopping and lovely green areas such as Dunorlan Park for a Sunday stroll. Easily accessible by train or car and just an hour to pop to the coast if you wanted to extend your trip with a day out in Hastings or Rye.
Romantic restaurants we would recommend:
- Coco Retro – our neighbours on Vale Road, opposite the main train station in Tunbridge Wells. Fine French cuisine served in a cosy and romantic building with styling designed to evoke the mood of Parisian dining.
- The Warren, serving food from their own estate in a very distinct building with a large glass convservatory is located at the top of Tunbridge Wells Hight Street . The Warren are featured in the Michelin Guide 2020. Table 14 is apparantly the most requested table by couples on a romantic night out!
- The Beacon – a gastro pub on the outskirts of town with THE most stunning view across the town’s properties and surrounding countryside. The owners of The Beacon also run The Twenty-Six which is a delightful, small restaurant (26 covers – where the name came from!) serving fresh, seasonal delights.
If you have already been in love for many years, Tunbridge Wells would be a wonderful place to visit to rekindle the romance and celebrate an anniversary. West End shows are frequently staged at the Assembly Hall Theatre and the smaller Trinity Theatre has become a popular spot for famous comedians, such as Michael McIntryre and Alan Carr, to try out their material before embarking on a national tour.
You wouldn’t be the first people who, after staying in Tunbridge Wells for a weekend break, have decided to come back and look for a house to buy! If that happens to you, be sure to pop in to our office for some free and impartial advice on the town’s properties, prices and areas. It is a unique property market in many ways due to the draw of the ‘Village’ area beside the High Street and Pantiles, the grand historic houses on Camden Park/Hungershall Park/Calverley Park/Nevill Park as well as the impact that the fabulous schools have on areas such as St Johns.
