John Randall gave a speech to the Hillingdon Chamber of Commerce last year at a breakfast meeting held at Brunel and one of the subjects he talked about was wanting to keep the talents of the Brunel graduates in Hillingdon to drive business efficiency, innovation and ultimately turnover locally.
So with that in mind I was pleased to hear about Brunel business competition winners Stars, Key and Hutch.
Property portals are famously a tough business, with the market leaders Rightmove, followed by Zoopla with new entrant OnTheMarket challenging the established leaders. OnTheMarket launched in January and are making progress, to much acrimony from Zoopla it must be said who have lost most to them.
Stars Key and Hutch (SKAH) think they have spotted an opportunity to act much more locally and be more of a Trip-Advisor type site for rental property making property a personal experience for landlords and tenants alike offering reviews of business and property locally.
.
As Letting Agents we deal with property and people and we know lettings is a people business but SKAH make it more honest in that reviews are there to be seen good or bad. I think it’s worth embracing or at least understanding the more open way of communicating about property this site heralds. As a landlord I think it’s well worth looking at, if only to see what the future might look like. After all if you are any good and the property is good you have nothing to worry about.
Now Stars Key and Hutch will be of interest to local landlords and agents. They offer a different route to talking to Brunel Students. As the entrepreneurs behind the project Paul and Rajan aim to achieve popularity in the local market and then replicate success in the next University town.
As I said I do think this site, poured from the crucible of Brunel, is worth looking at and offers a different route to market for you or your letting agent to consider.
