A landlord of mine sent me a link to a Telegraph article about future changes in estate agents and what will happen with viewings and advertising of property. Lots of interesting stuff with VR and reality augmentation await us all adopting google glasses. Although, I am unsure about letting viewers into your property unaccompanied.
The tech is an interesting veneer of effects and improvements. People will still in the end want to see the property before they move in, but 3D tours will help people decide whether they want to carry out a viewing or not. I am sure most people check a street on Google’s street view before they go for a visit at a property whether they are considering buying or renting. Both Rightmove and Zoopla make it simple to do this.
I would hope that the future brings us some more mundane but fundamentally more important improvements. I would like to see other changes that would make the buying and selling process simpler – such as a faster process for exchange of contracts, more standardised contracts for flats faster local searches from councils and of course a faster, smoother, transparent, planning process….
